Product information "M2M-711D Remote Maintenance Terminal Unit, Wi-Fi, RS-232 and RS-485"
M2M-711D is a serial-to-network device for remote maintenance and for upgrading existing serial installations to network connectivity. It gives maintenance engineers access to serial devices and PLCs over Ethernet or Wi-Fi, so faults can be diagnosed remotely with much of the detail of an on-site visit.
The unit offers two networking approaches. In VxServer mode, the companion virtual COM middleware on a Windows host maps the device's serial port to a virtual COM port, so existing RS-232 client programs can reach remote equipment without being rewritten. In pair-connection mode, two serial devices are linked by a TCP data tunnel, with the M2M-711D operating as server or client.
The ordering code M2M-711D CR is the RoHS-compliant variant listed in the source as Asia only.
