The tGW-718i-T bridges Modbus TCP hosts and serial Modbus RTU or ASCII devices, letting a supervisory system on Ethernet poll field instruments fitted with RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485 interfaces without rewiring them. Its single serial port is signal-isolated to 3000 VDC, which helps protect the serial side in electrically noisy installations.Each serial port accepts up to 32 TCP masters, and a read-cache stores previous requests and responses so that repeated queries from several HMI or SCADA masters are answered from memory. This reduces traffic on the RS-485 bus and shortens response times on the Ethernet side.
