The tGW-718 CR is a compact gateway that lets a Modbus TCP host communicate with serial Modbus RTU or ASCII devices over Ethernet. It removes the cable length limit of legacy serial links and supports both TCP/UDP master and slave operation, as well as RTU/ASCII master and slave on the serial side.
A read-cache stores previous requests and responses in the module's memory buffer, so repeated requests from HMI or SCADA masters are answered immediately. This reduces loading on the RS-485 bus and gives faster TCP responses. Network setup can use a static IP or DHCP, and the built-in web server (HTTP) handles configuration. The UDP Search responder helps locate the device on the network.
The unit accepts IEEE 802.3af (Class 1) Power over Ethernet or a +12 ~ 48 VDC terminal block supply. It has a plastic DIN-rail housing with a terminal block for wiring, and is supplied with a DC-jack to 2-wire power cable, 0.3 M. It is RoHS compliant.
