PISO-CAN400U-T is a four-port CAN bus interface card for PCs that need several independent CAN networks on one host. Each port supports CAN 2.0A and 2.0B and runs at a programmable rate up to 1 Mbps, so one card can serve multiple buses with different timing requirements.
Each CAN port is optically isolated, with 2500 Vrms photo-couple isolation on the bus and 3000 VDC DC-to-DC isolation, which helps protect the host PC from faults on the field side. A jumper selects the 120 Ω terminal resistor independently for each port, and the card has been verified to drive 100 CAN nodes simultaneously.
The card is built around an NXP SJA1000T CAN controller with a 16 MHz clock and 82C250/251 transceivers, with direct memory mapping to the controllers. It is a universal PCI card that works in both 3.3 V and 5 V PCI slots, and it is plug and play.
