The I-7188E4D connects existing serial equipment to an Ethernet network without changing the device itself. Its four serial ports (three RS-232 and one RS-485) can be presented to a Windows host as standard COM ports through the VxComm driver, or accessed directly over raw TCP sockets, so legacy instruments and controllers can join a networked system with little rework.
Because the unit is programmable, it can also run application logic on the device. The built-in MiniOS7 and Xserver programming structure allow engineers to build custom Ethernet applications, while the watchdog timer supports stable operation in demanding industrial environments. The LED display provides at-a-glance status indication.
The compact housing measures 123 x 72 x 33 mm and accepts a non-regulated +10 to +30 VDC supply with reverse polarity protection. It is rated for operation from -25 °C to +75 °C, making it suitable for factory, building and home automation installations.
