DNP3
The DNP-211 CR bridges DNP3 field devices and Ethernet-based Modbus TCP masters. On the DNP3 side it acts as the master, reading from and writing to outstations over TCP, UDP or serial. On the Modbus side it is a server that accepts requests from Modbus TCP clients and either answers them directly or forwards the related DNP3 data.Mapping between DNP3 points and Modbus addresses is set up in the DNP-211 utility, so existing DNP3 networks can be exposed to a Modbus TCP host without rewiring the field devices. Outstation connection status is also available at a Modbus address, which helps supervisory logic detect a lost link.Capacity covers up to 32 DNP3 outstations and 16 Modbus TCP client connections, with 8192 digital I/O bits and 2048 channels each for counter and analogue points. It is a suitable choice where an engineer needs a compact DIN-rail gateway with a metal housing and a wide 12 to 48 VDC supply range.ApplicationsIntegrating DNP3 outstations, RTUs and IEDs with Modbus TCP master systemsSCADA communication in utilities such as electric and water companiesConnecting existing DNP3 networks to Ethernet-based Modbus TCP masters
DNP-211-S bridges Modbus TCP field devices and DNP3 master stations. It polls several Modbus TCP servers and exposes their data as one DNP3 outstation, so a master station can read and control the underlying devices without needing a native Modbus driver. The gateway accepts DNP3 over RS-485, TCP/IP or UDP and supports Binary, Binary Output, Analog and Analog Output data. Analog values can be handled as word, int32, float or double. Mapping between Modbus TCP addresses and DNP3 points is set up in the DNP-211-S utility software, and the DNP3 side reports the Modbus TCP connection status.Suited to utility and SCADA installations, the unit uses a metal housing, a 12 to 48 VDC supply and DIN-rail or optional wall mounting. It is rated for operation from -25 to +75 °C.ApplicationsSCADA master station integration with Modbus TCP devicesElectric and water utility communicationsConnecting RTUs and IEDs to a DNP3 master station
