Modbus Data Concentrator
The MDC-211-433 collects data from Modbus devices reached over 433MHz wireless, RS-232 and RS-485, and presents it on a single Ethernet connection. A remote monitoring host can therefore read several field devices in one place rather than polling each one directly, which simplifies data collection and reduces Ethernet traffic. The unit polls devices according to a user-defined command list of up to 250 Modbus commands, and its shared memory holds 9600 points each of DI, DO, AI and AO data. Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP are supported, with the Ethernet port acting as a Modbus/TCP slave. Configuration can be edited as CSV files and exported or imported, which helps when maintaining larger device lists. The wireless link operates in the 433MHz band with 16 channels and 65536 group IDs, and the external omni-directional antenna is rated at 0 dBi. The manufacturer rates this model for Asia only, so check the regional offering before specifying it for European projects. It is housed in a metal casing for DIN-rail mounting and operates from +10 to +30 VDC at -25 to +75 °C.ApplicationsRemote monitoring systems that collect data from several Modbus RTU devicesWireless 433MHz data collection from Modbus devices at remote locationsConsolidating Modbus device polling to reduce Ethernet traffic loading
