The RS-405FC CR is a 5-port Industrial Ethernet switch for building redundant ring networks in industrial control and automation. It combines three shielded RJ-45 10/100Base-TX copper ports with two 100Base-FX multi-mode fibre ports fitted with SC connectors, so a ring can mix copper and fibre runs in a single device.
Redundancy is built in through the Cyber-Ring technique, with STP also available as a redundancy strategy. Typical recovery from a copper link failure is approximately 20 ms. The switch needs no software configuration: redundancy mode and maximum recovery time are set with DIP switches on the unit.
Two DC inputs accept +10 VDC to +30 VDC and can be connected to live sources at the same time, so one source can back up the other. A relay output signals a power failure or a dual-power or network link fault. The unit is designed for DIN-rail mounting and is rated for operation from 0 °C to +70 °C.
