Product information "PDS-752D Serial-to-Ethernet Device Server, 4x RS-232 and 1x RS-485"
PDS-752D CR connects existing serial equipment to an Ethernet network without changing the devices themselves. It provides four RS-232 ports and one RS-485 port, so engineers can bring legacy controllers, meters and field devices onto an IP network. The VxComm driver can map the device server's serial ports to virtual COM ports on a Windows PC, which allows serial software to run unchanged.
Beyond simple serial tunnelling, the unit is a programmable device server built around the Xserver programming structure and the built-in MiniOS7 operating system. It can also act as a Modbus TCP to RTU/ASCII gateway, passing requests from SCADA or HMI systems to serial Modbus devices. The RS-485 port uses a self-tuner ASIC controller, and the watchdog timer supports operation in demanding environments.
The removable terminal block simplifies wiring in industrial installations. The unit is supplied with the CA-0910 cable and can be mounted on a DIN rail or on a wall. Where a metal housing or Power over Ethernet is required, the similar listed models should be checked against the requirements.
