Product information "PDS-720D Programmable Serial-to-Ethernet Device Server, RS-232/RS-485"
The PDS-720D CR bridges one RS-232 and one RS-485 serial device onto a 10/100 Base-TX Ethernet network, so legacy equipment can be reached from SCADA, HMI or PC software without redesigning the serial side. Virtual COM drivers let Windows applications address the device server's serial ports as standard COM ports.
Beyond simple serial tunnelling, the unit is a programmable device server built around a MiniOS7 kernel and an Xserver programming structure, which suits custom Ethernet logic. It also acts as a Modbus TCP to RTU/ASCII gateway, allowing Modbus TCP clients to talk to serial Modbus slaves. The LED display and power indicator help with local status checks.
The unit has a plastic housing, a removable terminal block for wiring and supports DIN-rail or wall mounting. It is rated for an operating temperature of -25 ~ +75 °C and is supplied with the CA-0910 cable.
