The EC4-EP20E adds a second EtherCAT network port to the end of an EC4 series module chain. Its two RJ45 sockets let engineers route EtherCAT wiring onward in a daisy-chain or branch from a single station.
Each station can be separated by up to 100 m over 100BASE-TX, which helps when I/O stations are spread across a machine or plant area. The junction can also be used to build an EtherCAT star topology, so the network layout can follow the physical installation rather than a single linear run.
The unit runs from a +24 VDC supply, draws a maximum of 1.5 W, and carries a plastic housing for DIN-rail or wall mounting. Its EMS ratings cover EFT and ESD testing to IEC 61000-4-4 and IEC 61000-4-2.
