Temperature sensors for building automation: RTD, NTC or 0–10 V
Pt100, Pt1000, NTC thermistor or 0–10 V transmitter: wiring, cable length, accuracy and which ICP DAS input modules read each sensor type.
I/O, BACnet and Modbus gateways and dedicated modules for HVAC, lighting, access control and technical monitoring.
Building automation connects HVAC, lighting, access control, alarms and metering to a building management system (BMS) or SCADA. ICP DAS products are typically used where signals have to be collected from many points in a building, or where devices with different protocols need to exchange data.
RS-485 modules such as the M-7000 series collect signals over long cable runs on a single twisted pair using Modbus RTU. Where the building has a structured Ethernet network, Ethernet I/O such as the ET-7000 and ET-2200 series connects directly over Modbus TCP and is configured from a web browser. PoE models take power and data over one cable, which simplifies installation in ceilings and small cabinets without a local 24 V supply. Wireless I/O with ZigBee or Wi-Fi covers points where new cabling is impractical.
Building systems mix protocols. ICP DAS gateways make Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP devices available as BACnet/IP objects, connect Modbus TCP systems to BACnet MS/TP networks, and include a gateway for DALI lighting. BACnet/IP I/O modules connect signals directly to a BACnet BMS without a gateway. Serial device servers make older RS-232 and RS-485 equipment reachable over the network without replacing it.
The building and home automation range adds modules for specific jobs: lighting control modules with relay outputs and load current measurement, card readers for access control, alert modules with recorded voice messages, sirens and fan coil control. They use standard interfaces such as RS-485 and Ethernet, so the BMS integrates them like any other Modbus device.
TouchPAD panels provide local control and status screens for rooms and plant, and iKAN LED message displays show alarms or status text in technical areas.
In a building with a BACnet/IP BMS, each technical room gets M-7000 modules that read Pt100 sensors, door contacts and leak alarms over RS-485. One BACnet/IP to Modbus RTU gateway per RS-485 segment publishes the values as BACnet objects, so the BMS reads them like any other BACnet device and no custom driver is required.
Send us the I/O list or a description of the installation, and we will suggest suitable modules and gateways.
The PET-7017-10 is a PoE-powered Ethernet analog input module for engineers who need voltage or current measurement on a networked I/O node. Its inputs can be set as 10 differential or 20 single-ended channels in software, and each channel can be given its own range, so one module can serve mixed sensor types on the same network. Each channel offers a choice of voltage ranges from ±150 mV to ±10 V and current ranges of ±20 mA, 0 ~ 20 mA and 4 ~ 20 mA, selected with jumpers. Resolution is 16-bit, and the module has two sampling modes: normal mode at 10 Hz total and fast mode at 50 Hz total. Open wire detection is available for 4 ~ 20 mA inputs, and differential channels are rated for 240 Vrms overvoltage protection.Configuration and monitoring are handled through a built-in web server with Web HMI, and the module supports Modbus TCP and Modbus UDP. Access is controlled by ID, password and IP filter. The unit is powered either from PoE (IEEE 802.3af, Class 1) or from a +12 ~ +48 VDC terminal block, and it mounts on a DIN rail.ApplicationsBuilding automationFactory automationMachine automationRemote maintenanceRemote diagnosisTesting equipment
The ACS-11-MF is a proximity card reader with a built-in keypad, designed for access control installations where credentials are presented by card, by code or by both. It reads ISO 14443 A cards including Mifare Classic, Ultralight and DESFire, and gives spoken feedback through its built-in voice message function.Beyond credential reading, the unit controls an electric door lock, monitors door position and supports elevator floor control of up to 32 floors. It stores up to 8192 cards and keeps access records. An anti-sabotage micro switch and a choice of Ethernet, RS-485 or CAN communication suit it to engineers building networked access control systems. The reader is wall mounted and rated for an operating temperature of -20 ~ +60 °C. Its 2.0 W consumption and reverse polarity protection simplify integration into existing low-voltage access control wiring.ApplicationsCommunity door accessElevator floor controlAccess control systems
The ACS-11-MF-TC CR is an access control reader that accepts both keypad entry and ISO 14443 A RFID cards, covering Mifare Classic, Ultralight and DESFire card types. It combines door access control, voice guidance and elevator floor control in a single unit, making it suited to community door access and lift control schemes.Door hardware can be driven directly through two Form C relay outputs, while four digital inputs and a door position detection function report door status. A built-in micro switch provides anti-sabotage detection, and the reader stores access records with a capacity of 8192 cards.Communication is available over a 10/100Base-T(X) Ethernet port, an RS-485 port and a CAN bus interface, with a built-in RTC and WDT. The unit is wall mounted and measures 83 x 120 x 28 mm (W x L x H), with an operating range of -20 ℃ to +60 ℃.ApplicationsCommunity door access controlElevator floor controlAccess control systems
ACS-11P-MF CR is a keypad and RFID proximity card reader for access control systems. It combines door access control, voice guidance and elevator floor control in one unit, which suits community door access and lift control installations. The reader accepts ISO 14443 A cards, including Mifare Classic, Ultralight and DESFire, and offers electric door lock control with door position detection. An anti-sabotage micro switch, access records and built-in RTC and WDT help protect the installation and support day-to-day management. Communication is available over Ethernet with PoE or over RS-485, and the unit is powered from PoE (IEEE 802.3af, Class 1).Engineers will find the following points useful when specifying this reader:Keypad and RFID induction control for access decisionsTwo digital inputs and two Form C relay outputs for door and floor controlEthernet 10/100Base-T(X) with PoE, plus a single RS-485 port (9600 baud, N, 8, 1)Wall mounting, with the outlet box fitting noted in the source data for the United StatesApplicationsCommunity door access controlElevator floor controlAccess control systems for managed buildings
