The LX-8331 CR brings computing, I/O and operator interface together in a single 3-slot Linux controller. It suits projects that need control, data acquisition and a local display handled by one PAC rather than a separate PC and I/O stack.
Hardware centres on a 1.0 GHz x86 dual-core CPU with 2 GB DDR3 SDRAM, a 32 GB mSATA SSD and a CF card slot for program storage. Connectivity includes a VGA output, four USB 2.0 host ports, two 10/100/1000 Mbit Ethernet ports and isolated RS-232 and RS-485 interfaces. Three slots accept I-8KW and I-87KW series I/O modules, and remote expansion is possible over RS-485 and FRnet.
The controller runs Linux kernel 3.2 with built-in web, FTP, Telnet and SSH services. The LinPAC SDK provides a GCC-based toolchain and libraries for developing I/O applications in C. Dual watchdog timers, a 64-bit hardware serial number for software protection and redundant power inputs support reliable long-term operation.
