The M-2018-16 CR is a 16-channel differential analog input module for RS-485 networks. Each channel accepts thermocouple, voltage or current signals, so one module can cover several sensor types in a single DIN-rail point. Thermocouple channels include open-wire detection, which helps engineers spot a broken sensor loop quickly.
Front-end protection is built in. The inputs tolerate a 120 VDC overvoltage and include EMS protection against EFT, ESD and surge events, while 3000 VDC intra-module isolation supports reliable operation in electrically noisy plants. A 16-bit resolution and 0.1% of FSR accuracy give stable readings for process monitoring.
Communication uses an RS-485 port that supports Modbus RTU and DCON, with baud rates from 1200 to 115200 bps. A programmable module and communication watchdog helps the module recover from faults, and the unit runs from a +10 to +48 VDC supply across a -25 to +75 °C operating range.
