I-9120 CR adds a single isolated CAN port to 9000 series programmable automation controllers. Its NXP SJA1000T controller handles CAN 2.0A and 2.0B frames at baud rates from 10 kbps to 1 Mbps, making it suited to distributed real-time control where engineers need a cost-effective CAN interface.
The on-board 80186 CPU runs user-defined firmware, so the module can act as a programmable CAN node or device server. It can also exchange data with RS-232, RS-485 and Ethernet interfaces, allowing applications to bridge different communication protocols.
The CAN port uses a 5-pin screw terminal connector and includes a switchable 120 Ω terminal resistor. Isolation is rated at 3000 VDC for DC-to-DC and 2500 Vrms for the photo-coupler, and the module operates from -25 ~ +75 °C.
