USB-2084 CR is a full-speed USB 2.0 module that adds counter, frequency and encoder inputs to a PC without opening the chassis. It provides either eight channels for frequency and up counting or four channels for up/down, direction/pulse and A/B phase (quadrature) counting, which suits factory automation, embedded machine control and manufacturing test work.
The module is bus powered, so no external supply is needed, and it installs as plug-and-play with no driver to set up. It can be attached or removed while the system is running. Each channel can be configured individually, and a software-programmable low-pass filter from 1 to 32767 µs helps reject noise on the inputs.
An API library and demo programs with source code are available for Windows and Linux users. They cover VB, C++, C#.NET, VB.NET and LabVIEW, allowing engineers to build their own USB applications. The order includes a 1.5M USB cable (CA-USB15), and the module is RoHS compliant.
