The PPDS-721-MTCP links an RS-232 and an RS-485 serial device to an Ethernet network. Its VxComm utility can map the serial ports to virtual COM ports on a Windows PC, so existing COM-based software can reach serial equipment across the network without changes to the application.
Beyond simple serial bridging, the unit runs a programmable Xserver application on its built-in MiniOS7 real-time operating system and can act as a Modbus TCP to RTU/ASCII gateway for SCADA and HMI systems. It also provides latched digital inputs and counter functions for local event handling on site.
Power can be supplied over Ethernet using IEEE 802.3af Class 1 PoE, or from a +12 ~ 48 VDC terminal block. The CA-0910 cable is included with this ordering code, and the unit mounts on a DIN-rail or a wall.
