The PMDK is a DSP-based motion control card for the PCI bus, intended for engineers developing professional motion control applications. It fits any IPC with a 5 V PCI bus and combines a high-speed DSP and an FPGA with I/O buffering circuitry, so it can cover pulse, analogue and digital I/O in a single card.
Motion functions include multi-axis linear and circular interpolation with acceleration and deceleration processing, plus synchronous actions set up through programming. Because the DSP runs on a real-time kernel, motion status and I/O status can be monitored during operation, and the low CPU loading means more than one card can be used in the same IPC.
Remote expansion is available through a single two-wire FRnet port, which supports up to 128 DI and 128 DO channels. Sample software for motion and signal processing tasks is included to shorten development time for custom programs.
