ET-87P8-MTCP is a Modbus TCP expansion unit that extends an Ethernet network with up to eight I-87K series I/O modules. It suits industrial monitoring and control installations where I/O needs to sit remote from the controller, and it supports the I/O hot swap function so modules can be replaced with the unit in service.
Two switched RJ-45 ports (10/100 Base-TX) allow units to be daisy-chained, which reduces cabling and saves panel space. The unit also serves as a Modbus TCP to RTU gateway and provides a Modbus RTU/ASCII slave interface on its RS-232 console port, so serial and Ethernet masters can both be used.
The unit accepts a 10 to 30 VDC supply with 1 kV isolation and redundant power inputs, and is rated for an operating range of -25 to +75 °C. Its status LEDs and 5-digit display aid fault finding, while the CPU and software watchdogs and safe-value settings help keep outputs in a defined state if communication is lost. SDKs are provided for Windows XP, Windows CE 5.0/6.0, Linux and MiniOS7.
