XP-8731-CE6 is the largest member of the XP-8000-CE6 PAC series, combining a 1 GHz dual-core x86 processor with Windows CE 6.0. Its seven expansion slots accept high-profile I-8K parallel and I-87K serial I/O modules, so one controller can handle a wide mix of digital, analogue and serial I/O in a single installation.
The unit suits engineers who want deterministic, real-time control alongside PC-style software development. It supports .NET Compact Framework 3.5 and a DLL-based SDK for Visual Studio .NET 2005/2008, so control applications can be written in languages such as Visual Basic .NET or Visual C#. The 64-bit hardware serial number can be used to protect software against copying.
Connectivity includes two 10/100/1000BASE-T Ethernet ports, five serial ports (RS-232/485), four USB 2.0 host ports and a VGA output. Dual watchdog timers, a real-time clock and redundant power inputs support reliable operation, and the controller is rated for -25 ~ +75 °C.
