The uPAC-5001D-CAN2 is a palm-size programmable automation controller that brings two CAN bus channels together with Ethernet, RS-232 and RS-485 on one DIN-rail module. It suits engineers who need to gather data from several field networks and process it locally, or who need a gateway or bridge between different protocol networks.
The controller runs a DOS-like, single-task real-time operating system and accepts application programs written in C or C++. ICP DAS supplies library and demo code for the communication ports, watchdog, real-time clock, seven-segment display, flash, EEPROM and microSD storage, which shortens development by allowing sample programs to be adapted and combined.
Hardware options include a jumper-selectable 120 Ω terminal resistor for the CAN channel, redundant power inputs accepting +12 ~ +48 VDC, and a 64-bit hardware serial number for software copy protection. Its plastic casing and low power consumption of 2.5 W suit compact installations across a -25 ~ +75 °C operating range.
