XP-8731-WES7 is a Windows-based programmable automation controller that brings computing, local I/O and operator interface into a single 7-slot unit. It suits machine and process applications where a visual display and data acquisition need to sit alongside control logic in one housing, rather than in separate HMI and PLC hardware.
The controller runs Windows Embedded Standard 7 SP1 (32-bit) on a 1 GHz dual-core x86 CPU with 2 GB DDR3 SDRAM and 32 GB flash. Because WES7 uses the same Win32 API as Windows 7, desktop applications are generally able to run on it, which helps when reusing existing software. Connectivity includes dual Gigabit Ethernet, VGA, four USB 2.0 ports, RS-232 and RS-485.
Local expansion uses the I-8K and I-87K series I/O modules in the seven slots. Remote I/O can be added through Ethernet I/O modules and RS-485 I/O modules. The power input is redundant, with an alarm relay output, and the unit is rated for -25 ~ +75 °C operation.
