The RS-405FCS is a five-port industrial Ethernet switch built for redundant ring topologies. It provides three shielded RJ-45 ports at 10/100Base-TX and two single-mode SC fibre ports at 100Base-FX. Its built-in Cyber-Ring technique lets multiple switches form a redundant ring, and it detects and recovers from a copper link failure within approximately 20 ms.
Setup needs no software. According to the source, one or two DIP or rotary switch settings are enough to put the unit into service. Two redundant power inputs accept +10 ~ +30 VDC, and a relay output signals a power failure or a network link failure. Modbus remote monitoring and Modbus OPC Server support are included.
The fibre ports support single-mode operation over up to 30 km in full duplex, with 9/125 fibre recommended. The unit operates from 0 °C to +70 °C and is designed for DIN-rail mounting.
