The LX-8731 CR is a Linux-based programmable automation controller that brings computing, I/O and an operator display into a single housing. Its 1.0 GHz x86 dual-core processor runs Linux kernel 3.2, so it suits engineers who want standard Linux tools and services alongside direct I/O control on one platform.
Seven expansion slots accept I-8KW and I-87KW series I/O modules, and remote I/O can be added through Ethernet and RS-485 I/O modules. Serial connectivity includes isolated RS-232, RS-485 and RS-232/485 ports, with two 10/100/1000 Base-TX Ethernet ports for network integration. Programs can be stored on a CF card or USB mass storage device.
The unit is designed for -25 ~ +75 °C operation and has a redundant power input with an alarm relay, dual watchdog timers and a 64-bit hardware serial number for software copy protection. Applications can be developed with the LinPAC SDK using GNU C.
