I-8431-80 CR is a 4-slot Ethernet embedded controller built around an 80186-compatible 16-bit, 80 MHz CPU. It runs the MiniOS7 embedded operating system, which has a DOS-like environment and boots in 0.4 to 0.8 seconds, and it supports the I-8K and I-87K series I/O modules in its four slots, including DI, DO, DIO, AI, AO, counter/frequency and motion modules.
The unit combines an RJ-45 10Base NE2000 compatible Ethernet port with three serial COM ports (two RS-232 and one RS-232/RS-485). An XServer library simplifies TCP/IP application development, and the included demo programs help engineers complete the remaining Ethernet functionality. Diagnostics include a built-in watchdog, a 64-bit hardware serial number for software protection and input protection circuitry.
