Repeaters & Hubs
The I-7510 CR is an isolated RS-485 repeater that provides 2-way optical isolation between one RS-485 device and the rest of the system. It suits engineers who need to protect a sensitive node from ground differences and disturbances while keeping the bus connected.Beyond isolation, the module can extend the reach of an existing RS-485 network and expand a system beyond the 256-node limit imposed by the standard. It can also convert a 2-wire RS-485 signal, and vice versa.Direction switching is handled automatically, and the module supports speeds from 300 to 115200 bps. The I-7510 CR is a DIN-rail mounted unit with a plastic housing, powered from +10 VDC to +30 VDC.ApplicationsIsolating a single RS-485 device from the rest of the networkExtending the transmission distance of an existing RS-485 networkExpanding an RS-485 system beyond the 256-node limit of the standardConverting a 2-wire RS-485 signal and vice versa
The I-7510A CR is a blue-cover, RoHS-compliant isolated repeater and converter for RS-422 and RS-485 serial networks. It places 2-way 3 kV optical isolation between one RS-422/RS-485 device and the rest of the system, protecting the device from ground loops and disturbances on the wider network.Beyond isolation, the module can regenerate a serial signal to extend the reach of an existing network. It can also lift an RS-485 segment past the 256-node limit of the standard, and it converts between four-wire RS-422 and two-wire RS-485 signals in either direction. RS-485 direction control is handled automatically, so no separate direction signal is needed.Choose the I-7510A CR when you need a compact, DIN-rail mounted isolated repeater with a plastic housing and a supply range of +10 VDC to +30 VDC. Serial speeds run from 300 bps to 115200 bps, and the ESD protection on the RS-485 data line helps the module tolerate harsh field wiring.ApplicationsIsolating a single RS-422/RS-485 device from the rest of the serial networkExtending the transmission distance of an existing RS-485 networkExpanding an RS-485 system beyond the 256-node limit of the standardConverting between four-wire RS-422 and two-wire RS-485 signals
The I-7510AR CR is a high-speed repeater and converter for RS-422/485 serial networks. It isolates the RS-422/485 port from the power input circuit and from the other interface side, which protects connected devices and helps keep the network stable. Each unit adds a further 1.2 km (4,000 feet) of transmission distance at speeds up to 115,200 bps. It also lifts the 256-node limit of RS-485 systems, so larger networks can be built. Noise suppression and signal waveform enhancement on the RS-422/485 port support reliable data transfer. The unit converts between four-wire RS-422 and two-wire RS-485 signals, which gives flexibility when reconfiguring a network. The CR suffix identifies the blue-cover version, as listed in the ordering information. The unit mounts on a DIN rail and operates from +10 VDC to +30 VDC over a temperature range of -25 ~ +75 °C.ApplicationsExtending RS-422/485 serial network distancesExpanding RS-485 networks beyond 256 nodesConverting between four-wire RS-422 and two-wire RS-485 networksIsolating serial devices from each other and from the power supply in noisy industrial environments
The I-7510P-G CR is an RS-485 repeater that isolates one RS-485 device from the rest of the network. Isolation is applied on both the input and output interface circuits, giving three-way 5000 VDC protection between the ports and the power side.Use it to extend the reach of an existing RS-485 bus, or to grow a network beyond the 256-node limit set by the standard. It can also convert 2-wire RS-485 signals, in either direction, within the same system.Suited to noisy or ground-sensitive installations where galvanic separation is requiredAutomatic RS-485 direction control removes the need for manual timing setupApplicationsExtending the transmission distance of an existing RS-485 networkExpanding an RS-485 system beyond the 256-node limitIsolating one RS-485 device from the rest of the systemConverting 2-wire RS-485 signals
I-7513 CR is a three-way isolated RS-485 active star wiring hub for engineers who need to branch a serial bus into several independent segments. Each of its three output channels has its own driver, so a fault or long run on one branch does not have to affect the others. The hub and repeater functions allow each output channel to feed another hub, which makes it practical to extend an RS-485 network and build out a star topology. Isolation is applied at the input and output interface circuits, giving 3000 VDC three-way isolation between the connected segments.Automatic RS-485 direction control and ESD protection on the data line simplify wiring and help protect the bus. This CR ordering code carries the blue cover and is supplied with a plastic housing for DIN-rail installation.ApplicationsRS-485 active star wiring applicationsExtending the reach of RS-485 serial networks
The I-7513-G splits one RS-485 master link into three independently driven RS-485 outputs, so a single bus can be fanned out to several slave branches. Each output channel has its own driver and is rated for up to 4,000 ft (1200 m) of cable.Because the unit provides both hub and repeater functions, any output channel can feed another hub, allowing star-wired RS-485 networks to be built in stages. Isolation is applied in the input and output interface circuits, giving three-way isolation between the connected segments.Ideal for engineers designing RS-485 star topologies who need electrical separation between branches, the -G variant ships with a gray cover and is intended for DIN-rail installation within the -25 ~ +75 °C operating range.ApplicationsRS-485 star wiring networksFanning out a single RS-485 bus to multiple slave branchesExtending RS-485 networks through cascaded hubsElectrically separating RS-485 segments in industrial serial communication systems
I-7514U-G CR is an active RS-485 star wiring hub for extending or splitting a serial bus. One RS-485 input connects to the master, and each of the four outputs has its own driver, so data from the master is forwarded to all four slave branches at the same time.Baud rate can be handled automatically or fixed. The Self-Tuner mode accepts 300 ~ 115200 bps, while the fixed mode, set by rotary switch, runs from 1200 ~ 115200 bps and suits long or lossy cable runs and electrically noisy sites. If a connected device fails, its short-circuit protection isolates that branch so the remaining outputs keep working. Each channel also has a jumper-selectable 120 Ω termination resistor, disabled by default. The gray-cover variant is supplied with a plastic casing, 2500 VDC intra-module isolation and a +10 VDC ~ +30 VDC non-isolated power input. Hubs can be daisy-chained to reach 256 channels, and LEDs show power, transmit and receive activity.ApplicationsStar-wired RS-485 network distributionExtending serial bus reach on long or noisy linesSplitting one master RS-485 port across multiple slave devices
The I-7520U4-G CR takes one RS-232 master input and forwards its data simultaneously to four independent RS-485 outputs, allowing a single serial master to reach several RS-485 devices in a star topology. Each output channel has its own driver, and the hub switches direction automatically.Baud rate is set by the rotary switch, with a choice between Self-Tuner mode, which supports multiple baud rates and data formats, and a fixed baud rate mode, which is better suited to long or lossy lines and electrically noisy surroundings. A short-circuit protection feature switches off a faulty RS-485 channel so that the remaining devices keep communicating. Each channel includes a 120Ω termination resistor that is jumper selectable and disabled by default, useful where signal reflections must be controlled. Power and communication LEDs assist with troubleshooting, and the plastic DIN-rail unit runs from +10 VDC to +30 VDC over an operating range of -25 ~ +75 °C.ApplicationsDistributing serial data from one RS-232 master to several RS-485 slave devicesRS-485 networks running over long lines or in electrically noisy environmentsIndustrial serial communication cabinets with DIN-rail installation
The I-7551 CR is an isolated RS-232 to RS-232 repeater that places an electrical isolation barrier between two serial devices. It carries full-duplex traffic, including the control signals, so equipment on either side can run without a direct ground connection. The CTS/RTS pins can be reconfigured as DSR/DTR to suit different serial wiring requirements. Isolation is applied in both the input and output interface circuits through two DC-to-DC isolators, giving three-way isolation rated at 3000 VDC.This blue-cover (CR) ordering variant is intended for installations where the two sides use different power sources, the signals are noisy, or the devices sit at different ground potentials. It mounts on a DIN rail and accepts a +10 VDC to +30 VDC supply.ApplicationsSerial links between devices running on different power sourcesSerial communication in electrically noisy environmentsRS-232 connections between devices at different ground potentials
tM-7510U is a compact RS-485 repeater that boosts existing signals so they can cover longer distances or support more nodes on the bus. It extends the communication distance by 4000 ft. (1200 m) and allows the maximum number of bus nodes to be increased. The module provides 2500 VDC of two-way isolation, so critical segments of a system can be separated and protected from the rest of the RS-485 network. ESD protection is fitted to the RS-485 data line, and a power and communication LED helps with troubleshooting.Baud rate can be set by rotary switch in either Self-Tuner mode, which handles multiple baud rates and data formats, or Fixed baud rate mode, which is intended for long or lossy lines and electrically noisy environments.
