The PPDS-743D-MTCP is a programmable device server that brings legacy serial equipment onto an Ethernet network. It provides two 3-wire RS-232 ports, one 5-wire RS-232 port and one RS-485 port, so existing serial devices can be connected to Ethernet without replacing them. The VxComm driver and utility can map the built-in COM ports to standard COM ports on a Windows PC.
Beyond serial bridging, the unit runs the built-in MiniOS7 and the Xserver programming structure, so custom Ethernet applications can be developed on the device. It also acts as a Modbus TCP to RTU/ASCII gateway for SCADA and HMI systems that speak Modbus TCP. Four digital inputs with latched and counter functions and four open-collector digital outputs handle local signals alongside the serial traffic.
Power can be supplied over Ethernet via IEEE 802.3af (Class 1) PoE, or from a +12 ~ 48 VDC terminal block. The unit is supplied with the CA-0910 cable, mounts on a DIN-rail or wall, and is rated for an operating range of -25 ~ +75 °C.
