The I-9144i CR adds four galvanically isolated RS-422/485 serial ports to a PAC or remote I/O system, letting engineers connect several serial devices without sharing a common ground path. Each port has its own internal 128-byte hardware FIFO and runs at up to 115200 bps, with RS-422 full-duplex operation supported.
Each port offers a built-in self-tuner or auto-direction control, which simplifies RS-485 half-duplex wiring. Intra-module isolation is rated at 2500 VDC, and onboard ESD protection devices divert discharge from sensitive circuitry, with ±4 kV contact protection on each channel to IEC 61000-4-2.
The module suits devices such as bar code readers, serial printers, intelligent sensors, instrumentation equipment and computers, or almost any device fitted with an RS-422/485 port. Parity, data bit and stop bit settings are configurable per the listed options, and status LEDs show power, communication and transmit/receive activity for each port.
