The uPAC-7186EXD-CAN-G CR is a programmable automation controller built around an 80186 processor, with a CAN 2.0A/2.0B port, a 10/100Base-TX Ethernet controller and RS-232 and RS-485 serial ports. It is intended for engineers who need a controller to pass commands between a CAN network and other devices on Ethernet or serial links.
Application programs can be written in C/C++ and run under the built-in MiniOS7 operating system. The unit provides 512 KB of SRAM and 512 KB of Flash, along with EEPROM, NVRAM and a real-time clock for storing settings and maintaining time. Three programmable status LEDs and a 7-segment display give local feedback during operation.
This variant has no digital or analogue I/O channels, so it suits communication-focused designs where the CAN, serial and Ethernet interfaces carry the workload. The CAN channel includes a jumper-selectable 120Ω terminal resistor, and the unit mounts on DIN-rail in a plastic housing.
