PROFI-2541 CR carries PROFIBUS DP traffic over multi-mode fibre optic cable, so engineers can run fieldbus links where copper cabling is exposed to electrical interference, surges, lightning or chemical corrosion. Two units are used as a pair, one at each end of the fibre link.
The converter detects the PROFIBUS transmission rate automatically, up to 3 Mbps, and passes data transparently in both directions. The 850 nm fibre link supports a length of up to 1.4 km (4593 ft) between two units. The PROFIBUS side has 3000 VDC isolation, the unit includes network isolation protection, and every terminal is rated for 4 kV ESD protection.
The unit mounts on a DIN-rail and draws 1 W. Status LEDs for power, TxD and RxD aid commissioning, and the operating temperature range is -25 ~ +75℃. It is certified to CE, UKCA, FCC and WEEE.
