PROFI-8255-G is a PROFIBUS DP-V0/DP-V1 slave remote I/O unit with two slots for I-8K and I-87K series modules, configured through a GSD file.

PROFI-8255-G turns a pair of ICP DAS I/O modules into a PROFIBUS DP slave. It accepts I-8K, I-87K Low Profile and I-87K High Profile modules in its two slots, so a single unit can be fitted with the I/O mix a machine needs. The unit supports DP-V0 and DP-V1 with read/write access, and its address is set with rotary switches across 0 to 126.
Configuration is handled entirely from the GSD file, so the I/O modules are chosen and mapped in the PROFIBUS master's configuration tool without any separate setting software. The transmission rate is detected automatically. I-87K High Profile modules can be hot-swapped while the unit is in service, which simplifies maintenance on running lines.
For electrically noisy plants, the unit provides a 3000 VDC isolation barrier on the PROFIBUS side, 2500 Vrms bus-to-logic isolation via High Speed iCoupler, and 4 kV ESD protection on each terminal. It is rated for an operating temperature of -25 to +75 °C and mounts on a DIN rail or a wall.
