The USB-2055-32 adds 16 digital inputs and 16 digital outputs to a PC over USB 2.0 full-speed (12 Mbps), with no external power supply needed as it is USB bus powered. Every digital input channel can be used as a 32-bit counter, and the input wiring can be set for dry or wet contact operation, which suits both switch-based and powered sensor signals.
Outputs are open-collector, sink (NPN) type, rated at 600 mA per channel. Configurable power-on and safe values define the output state at start-up and when communication fails. A hardware watchdog (1.6 second) and a programmable software watchdog help the module keep running reliably in demanding environments. Each channel has an LED indicator, giving 32 status LEDs for quick visual checks.
An API library and demo programs with source code are provided for Windows and Linux, covering VB, C++, C#.NET, VB.NET and LabVIEW. The order includes a 1.5 m USB cable (CA-USB15), which can be locked in place.
