PEX-P64-24V is a PCI Express x1 board that adds 64 optically isolated digital input channels to a host PC. Each channel accepts dry-contact or wet (external voltage) signals, and the input power source can be chosen by jumper, so the board suits both switch-based sensing and signals from powered field devices.
For dry-contact inputs, the board uses an onboard isolated DC/DC converter rated at 3000 VDC. The channels can be split into four isolated banks of 16 when four isolated external supplies are used, which helps separate field circuits from one another. The photocouplers provide 3750 Vrms isolation, which removes ground loop issues and protects the host computer from voltage spikes on the field side.
An onboard Card ID switch allows the board to be identified in software when two or more cards are installed in the same computer. The board is designed as a direct replacement for the PISO-P64U without changes to existing software or drivers. The ordering code includes one CA-4037B cable and two CA-4002 D-Sub connectors.
