ECAN-240 CR is a Modbus TCP to 2-port CAN bus gateway. It connects two CAN bus networks to an Ethernet network, so CAN devices can be reached from Modbus TCP clients and the two CAN segments can exchange data through the module.
Each of the two CAN interfaces follows ISO 11898-2 and supports CAN 2.0A and CAN 2.0B frames, with baud rates from 10 k to 1M bps set by rotary switches. A built-in 120 ohm terminal resistor is enabled or disabled with a DIP switch. The CAN ports are isolated, rated at 3000 VDC for DC-to-DC and 2500 Vrms for the photo-coupler stage.
Beyond Modbus TCP server operation, the gateway offers pair connection between CAN networks over TCP or UDP, and a transparent mode in which TCP (port 10003) or UDP (port 57540) packets carry CAN frames for custom software. The metal housing is rated for -25 ~ +75 °C operation and mounts on a DIN rail.
