PEX-D56 CR adds 56 buffered TTL digital input/output lines to a PC through a PCI Express x1 slot. The board emulates two industrial-standard 8255 PPI ports in Mode 0 and presents its lines as three 8-bit bidirectional ports, with a female DB37 connector and two 20-pin box headers for field wiring.
It is designed as a direct replacement for the PIO-D56 and PIO-D56U series, so existing software and drivers do not need to be modified. A 4-bit Card ID set by SMD switch lets software identify individual boards when two or more cards are installed in the same computer.
Digital I/O response is approximately 2 μs (500 kHz maximum). The digital outputs offer higher driving capability, rated at 64 mA sink and 32 mA source on CON3. The board operates from 0 to +60 °C.
