The I-8831-G CR is an Ethernet embedded controller that hosts up to eight I-8K and I-87K I/O modules in a single DIN-rail or wall-mounted unit. It runs the DOS-like MiniOS7 operating system, which boots in 0.4 to 0.8 seconds and includes built-in hardware diagnostics. Support covers DI, DO, DIO, AI, AO, counter/frequency and motion modules.
Software development is done in C, and the bundled XServer library handles much of the TCP/IP plumbing so that engineers can concentrate on the application-specific logic. The unit also provides a 64-bit hardware serial number for software protection and a built-in watchdog for unattended operation.
Connectivity comprises one RJ-45 Ethernet port and three COM ports, two RS-232 and one RS-232/RS-485. Optional S-256 or S-512 battery-backed SRAM modules add data logger storage. The unit suits remote data acquisition and control tasks in environment monitoring, power management and factory automation.
