The I-7531-FD-G CR is an isolated repeater for CAN 2.0A/B and CAN FD networks, with two CAN ports that link two bus segments running at the same baud rate. Signals weakened by long cable runs or electrical noise are reshaped and retransmitted on the second port, which helps keep a marginal bus stable.
The module detects the CAN bus baud rate automatically, so no parameters need to be set. Once wired to the bus and powered from +10 VDC to +30 VDC, it is ready to operate. A built-in 120 Ω terminal resistor can be selected by jumper. Digital isolation is rated at 2500 Vrms and the DC-DC section at 3000 V.
Note that the repeater adds a typical physical-layer delay of 175 ns and does not extend the maximum communication distance of the bus. Where the reach of the CAN segment itself must be increased, the manufacturer points to the I-7532M-FD instead.
