The CAN-8423-G is a CANopen slave remote I/O unit for engineers who need distributed digital and analogue I/O on a CAN bus. It implements the CiA 301 v4.02 communication profile and the CiA 401 v2.1 device profile, so it can be integrated with standards-based CANopen masters.
Four expansion slots accept I-87K or I-8000 series DI, DO, AI and AO modules, letting you tailor the I/O mix to the application. An EDS file can be generated dynamically with the CAN-8423 Utility, and the node ID is set by rotary switch across the range 1 to 255. PDO transmission can be event triggered, remotely requested, cyclic or acyclic SYNC.
Isolation of 3000 VDC (DC-to-DC) and 2500 Vrms (photo-coupler), together with a built-in 120 Ω terminator, helps with bus design. The unit operates from -25 to +75 °C and provides an RS-232 console port.
