The PCIe-S114i CR adds four RS-232 serial ports to a PCI Express x1 slot, each backed by a 256-byte hardware FIFO and supporting full-duplex communication at up to 921600 bps. It suits engineers who need several serial links from a single PC without relying on USB-to-serial converters.
As the i variant, each serial data line is photocoupler-isolated to 3000 VDC, and every port carries ±4 kV ESD protection. These measures help break ground loops, limit common-mode voltages and protect the host computer and connected equipment from voltage spikes and electrostatic discharge in harsh industrial settings.
The short card design fits compact chassis, and the board is supplied with a CA-4002 connector. Drivers are provided for 32/64-bit Windows XP/2003/2008/7/8/10 and Linux kernel 2.6.31 to 5.16.0. Typical devices include bar code readers, serial printers, intelligent sensors and instrumentation.
